ASTM G80-2007 Standard Test Method for Specific Cathodic Stripping of Pipeline Coatings

Scope of

1.1 This test method includes an accelerated procedure for simultaneously determining the comparative characteristics of the insulating coating system applied to the exterior of the steel pipe with the purpose of preventing or mitigating corrosion that may occur in underground service where the pipe will come into contact with the natural soil and may or may not receive cathodic protection. It is intended to be used with coated pipe samples taken from commercial production and is suitable for such samples when the coating has an electrical barrier function.
