ISO (Internationale Standardisierungsorganisation) ist eine globale Allianz nationaler Normungsgremien (ISO-Mitgliedsorganisationen). Die Entwicklung internationaler Standards erfolgt in der Regel durch technische Komitees der ISO. Jede Mitgliedsinstitution, die an einem Thema interessiert ist, zu dem ein Fachausschuss eingerichtet wurde, hat das Recht, in diesem Ausschuss vertreten zu sein. An dieser Arbeit sind auch internationale Regierungs- und Nichtregierungsorganisationen beteiligt, die mit der ISO zusammenarbeiten.

Von technischen Komitees angenommene Entwürfe internationaler Standards werden den Mitgliedsgremien zur Genehmigung vorgelegt, bevor sie vom ISO-Rat als internationale Standards akzeptiert werden. They are approved under the ISO process, which requires at least 75 per cent approval from voting member bodies.

Internationaler ISO-Standard 7384 wurde vom Technischen Komitee ISO/TC entwickelt 156, Corrosion of Metals and Alloys.

1 Scope and domain of application
This standard specifies the general requirements for specimens, equipment and procedures for artificial atmospheric corrosion tests. It is applicable to metals and alloys with or without permanent or temporary corrosion protection.

The requirements set forth in this standard are intended to be applied to other international standards involving artificial atmosphere corrosion testing and accelerated test methods and construction of new chambers.

3 Definition
For the purposes of this international standard, Es gelten die folgenden Definitionen.

Corrosion tests in Artificial atmosphere: Laboratory tests performed in air with or without permanent or temporary corrosion protection for the presence of aggravating factors affecting the corrosion of metallic materials and alloys.
