Bedeutung und Zweck
This test method determines the relative flame retardant properties of the coating and the water leaching of the flame retardant material from the coating. Leaching simulates the effects of high humidity, weathering, and washing on the flame retardancy of coatings and is specified in various flame retardant coatings regulations and codes.

Geltungsbereich
1.1 This test method quantitatively determines the flame retardant properties of wood surface coatings or coating systems and the leaching effect of water on the flame retardant properties of coatings or coating systems. Speziell, the test method determines the weight loss and charring index of coated panels subject to flame and the effect of coating leaching on these parameters.

1.2 This test method shall only be used to measure and describe the reaction performance of materials, products or systems to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions and shall not be considered or used to describe, evaluate or regulate the fire hazard of materials, products or systems under actual fire conditions.
