ASTM D4797-2017 Standard Test Method for Gravimetric Analysis of White and Yellow Thermoplastic Pavement Markings

Kahulugan at paggamit

5.1 The function of these test methods is to determine the percentage of adhesive and reverse-reflected optical or non-reverse-reflected particles in a thermoplastic pavement marking composition, as defined by the applicable specific thermoplastic pavement marking manufacturing specification. Subsequent samples, due to ashing, can be used later to test for the presence of titanium dioxide, lead chromate and possibly organic pigments.

Hakbang 1: Saklaw

1.1 These test methods include procedures for gravimetric analysis of adhesives and hydrochloric acid (HCL) insoluble particles in white and yellow thermoplastic pavement markings. HCL insoluble particles may be reverse-reflecting optics, such as glass beads or some other type of reverse-reflecting optics, or non-reverse-reflecting particles, such as silica sand, or any combination of two or more of these materials.

1.2 Where there is a mixture of two or more HCL insoluble substances, the standard does not address the physical separation and individual quantification of each component. Instead, it requires the user to visually evaluate the HCL insoluble material (obtained from following this test method) and report the type of material present.

1.3 This standard is not intended to address the measurement of titanium dioxide or lead chromate pigments (after ashing) detailed in test methods D1394 and D126.

1.4 This standard attempts to address the interference of organic pigments with adhesive results.
