מבוא

החלק הזה של ISO 14680 is one of a series of standards dealing with the sampling and testing of paints, varnishes and related products.

It specifies a method for determining the pigment content of a paint by adding a solution of potassium hydroxide to solidify the pigment and filter out the resulting solids. The method is particularly suitable for coating materials containing carbon black, extremely subdivided silica, extremely subdivided titanium dioxide, organic pigments or polymer dispersions. It is not suitable for many water-diluted coatings because the entire adhesive will condense when a potassium hydroxide solution is added.

The pigment content of the coating material can also be determined by centrifugal method (ראה ISO 14680-1) or ashing method (ראה ISO 14680-2).
