4.1 White or light colored vulcanized rubber products or surfaces covered with organic finishes may discolor when exposed to wet, lembab, high temperature and sunlight conditions. This change in the color of the light-colored rubber surface repels consumers.

4.2 The results obtained should only be considered as indicative of the effect of irradiance from the specified source (UVA-340 lamp or xenon arc with daylight filter) and not equivalent to the result of any natural exposure, unless the degree of quantitative correlation of the relevant material has been established empirically.

4.3 The test method can be used for producer-consumer acceptance, adjudicative purposes and research and development work.

1.1 This test method covers techniques for evaluating surface discoloration of white or light-colored vulcanized rubber that may occur when subjected to UV or UV/visible light exposure from specified sources under controlled conditions of relative humidity, humidity and temperature.

1.2 The test method also describes how to qualitatively assess the degree of discoloration produced in this case.

1.3 Syarat “perubahan warna” applies to a change in color of a rubber sample, as distinct from staining (Lihat Catatan 1), which refers to a change in color of a metal surface treated in contact with or adjacent to a rubber sample.
