1.1 This guide provides guidance on the selection of a sampling plan for examining electrodeposition of products and associated coatings to determine whether submitted batches of coated products comply with applicable specifications for coatings. This complements test method B602, provides more information about sampling inspections, and provides additional sampling plans for users who find limited plan options in test method B602.

1.2 When using a sampling plan, select and inspect items from a relatively small portion of the inspection lot. Based on the results, it is decided whether the inspection lot is satisfactory to the specification.

1.3 The Guide also contains several sampling plans. 1.5 Another general type of acceptance sampling plan not covered by this guide is a variable plan, in which measurements of characteristics are analyzed by a statistical procedure. These plans, where applicable, can reduce inspection costs and improve quality protection.
