This document specifies a sensitive eddy current instrument using amplitude of nonmagnetic conductive non conductive coating thickness on the base metal nondestructive measurement method.

In this document, the termcoatingis used for materials such as paints and varnishing, electroplating coatings, enamel coatings, plastic coatings, overlays and powder coatings. The method is particularly suitable for thickness measurements of most oxide coatings produced by anodic oxidation, but not for all transformed coatings, some of which are too thin to be measured by this method (see article 6).

The method also can be used to measure the conductive nonmagnetic metal coating on the substrate. Међутим, the phase-sensitive eddy current method specified in ISO 21968 is particularly suitable for this application and can provide higher accuracy thickness results (see Annex A).

The method is not suitable for measuring non-magnetic metal coatings on conductive base metals. In accordance with the ISO 21968 phase-sensitive eddy current method is particularly useful for this application. Међутим, in the special case of very thin coatings with very small electrical conductivity, the amplitude sensitive eddy current method can also be used for this application (see Appendix A).

Although this method can be used to measure coating thickness on magnetic base metals, it is not recommended for this application. In this case, the magnetic method specified in ISO 2178 can be used. Only about 1 mm above the very thick coating, the amplitude of sensitive eddy current method can also be used for this application (see appendix A).

3.1 the adjustment of the measuring system

A set of operations performed on a measuring system so that it provides a prescribed indication corresponding to a given value of the quantity to be measured
