ИСО (Међународна организација за стандардизацију) је глобални савез националних тела за стандардизацију (Тела чланица ИСО). Развој међународних стандарда се обично спроводи преко ИСО техничких комитета. Свака институција чланица заинтересована за предмет за који је основан технички комитет има право да буде заступљена у тој комисији. Међународне владине и невладине организације које су у вези са ИСО такође су укључене у овај посао. With regard to the drying stages 2 до 7 defined in this part of ISO 9117 (see Table 1), it should be noted that the drying of different coatings applied to the same substrate is not uniform. In the case of physical drying or oxidation/reaction-controlled drying, the processes that occur during film formation are so different that grades cannot be clearly distinguished. Стога, when testing with this part of ISO 9117, it is possible to reach a higher drying stage before a lower drying stage within the range covered by drying stages 4 до 7. Стога, a difference in one drying stage within this range does not necessarily mean a specific difference in drying rate. Elastoplastic coatings may never reach the drying stage 5 до 7. If the surface is sticky, although the surface looks completely dry, it may not reach the high drying stage. Генерално, the visible changes involved in drying stages 4 и 6 (see Table 1) can be evaluated more accurately on glossy surfaces than on matte or structured surfaces.

Стога, the tests described in this part of ISO 9117 should be considered as a technical tool with relatively limited utility. For plastic coatings, it can only be determined to a limited extent whether drying stages 4 до 7 have been reached, as the elastoplastic behavior of these coatings cannot be assessed on the basis of temporary visible changes in the coating surface.
