意义及用途

5.1 The function of this test method is to provide numerical instrumental results indicating the bond and/or bond strength of a thermoplastic pavement marker to a specific cement brick substrate.

5.2 Using this test method allows users and manufacturers to control the quality of the product and infer the performance of the thermoplastic pavement marking product. The results of these tests also provide information that helps in the research and development of thermoplastic pavement marking materials.

5.3 The method has been revised to be more consistent with the methodology of other ASTM bonding methods for coatings in test methods D4541, D5179, and D7234.

5.4 Strict adherence to the said procedure is necessary for the accuracy of the test method. Adhesive strength should not be accepted under any conditions except in accordance with this method.
