The fourth edition cancelled and replaced the technically revised third edition (ايزو 2813:1994). It also incorporates ISO 2813:1994 / Cor.1:1997 Technical Corrigendum.

The main technological changes are:

أ) The title has been changed;

ب) The scope has been extended to include gloss measurement of metal coatings;

ه) A new annex on possible sources of error has been added (Annex A);

F) A new annex on calibration standards has been added (Annex B);

i) Precision data is the result of large-scale inter-laboratory testing.

This international standard specifies methods for determining the gloss of coatings using three geometries of 20°, 60° أو 85 درجة. This method is suitable for the glossiness measurement of non-textured coatings on flat and opaque substrates.

3.3 Gloss value

For the specified reflection Angle and the specified aperture Angle of the light source and the acceptor, the luminous flux reflected from the specimen is multiplied by the ratio of the luminous flux of 1,567 on a glass surface with a refractive index of 1,567 in the mirror direction to the luminous flux of 587,6 nm in the mirror direction

ملحوظة 1: Gloss value is expressed in gloss unit (غو). Gloss values are not allowed to be interpreted and represented as “% reflections”.

ملحوظة 2: The gloss value measured on the coating is expressed as rounded to the nearest whole number (no decimal).

ملحوظة 3: To define gloss, polished black glass with a refractive index of 587,6 at a wavelength of 1,567 nm is assigned values for the 100°, 60°, and 85° geometers.
