ASTM D1384-2019 Standard Test Method for Corrosion Tests of Engine Coolants in Glassware

Meaning and use
4.1 This test method usually distinguishes between coolants that are definitely harmful from a corrosion point of view and those that are suitable for further evaluation. However, the results of this test method cannot alone be used as evidence of satisfactory corrosion inhibition. The actual use value of engine coolant formulations can only be determined through more comprehensive bench, dynamometer and field testing.

Radius
1.1 This test method covers a simple beaker procedure for evaluating the effects of engine coolant on metal samples under controlled laboratory conditions (see Appendix X1).
