5.1 This practice is used to prepare painted concrete where good bonding is required for conditions of use such as continuous or intermittent soaking, temperature cycling or mechanical loading.

Step 1: Scope

1.1 This practice includes surface treatment of the concrete in order to prepare the surface prior to coating.

1.2 The purpose of this practice is to alter the surface profile of the concrete and remove foreign matter and weak surface float.

1.3 This standard is not intended to address all safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of users of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
