4.1 When transporting water-based coatings in cold weather, they may undergo freeze-thaw cycles. The freezing and thawing cycles cause more damage to waterborne coatings than when the coating is subjected to stable freezing.

1.1 The test method includes procedures for assessing the effect of the freeze/thaw cycle on the viscosity and visual film properties of waterborne coatings.
