Meaning and Use

2.1 Clean compressed air is required to prevent contamination of the coating material and the surface prepared for coating. The test method is a visual inspection technique used to determine oil or water in compressed air. Other types of contamination may require additional analytical techniques for detection.

Scope

1.1 This test method is used to determine the presence of oil or water in compressed air used for sandblasting, blast cleaning and coating construction operations.

1.2 Values in inch-pounds should be considered standard values. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.3 This standard is not intended to address all safety issues, if any, associated with its use. Users of this standard are responsible for establishing appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and determining the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
