ASTM D5423-2022 Standard Specification for Evaluation of Forced Convection Furnaces in Electrical Laboratories
The concept
The specification of forced circulation wind furnace, heat resistant evaluation for electrical insulating materials. The oven shall be classified according to the ventilation way: type I and type II. Ventilation rate, set temperature, temperature change, and thermal log time characteristics should be determined using the specified test method.
Scope of
1.1 This specification covers mandatory convection wind power heating furnaces that can operate in all or part of a temperature range from 20°C to 500°C above ambient temperature and is used for heat resistance assessment of electrical insulation materials.
1.2 The specification requirements for Type I ovens are based on and technically identical to IEC Publication 60216-4-1. The requirement of type II oven with D2436 specification requirements are basically the same. This specification and the associated test method D5374 have replaced specification D2436.

1.3 Although the ovens covered by this specification are primarily used for thermal durability assessment, their characteristics make them suitable for other applicable applications.
1.4 Values expressed in SI units should be considered standard values. This standard does not include other units.
1.5 This standard is not intended to address all safety issues, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
1.6 this international standard is the technical barriers to trade, according to the world trade organization committee issued “about setting international standards, guidelines and recommendations of the decision of the principle of” the establishment of the internationally recognized principles of standardization.
