ISO (Mezinárodní organizace pro normalizaci) je globální federací národních normalizačních orgánů (členy ISO). Vývoj mezinárodních norem se obvykle provádí prostřednictvím technických komisí ISO. Each member group interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on the Committee. Mezinárodní organizace, governments and non-governmental organizations in contact with ISO are also involved in this work. ISO úzce spolupracuje s Mezinárodní elektrotechnickou komisí (IEC) ve všech záležitostech elektrické normalizace.

Část 1 Směrnice ISO/IEC popisuje postupy použité pro vývoj tohoto dokumentu a pro další údržbu. Zejména, pozornost by měla být věnována různým schvalovacím kritériím požadovaným pro různé typy dokumentů ISO. This document provides guidance and recommendations on general design principles applicable to articles to be galvanised against corrosion and the level of corrosion resistance provided by the galvanised coating of steel articles exposed to a variety of environments. Initial protection involves

This document applies to zinc coatings applied by the following processes:

A) Hot-dip galvanizing coating (post-manufacturing application);

b) Hot-dip galvanizing coating (applied to continuous plates);

C) zincizing coating;

d) Thermal spraying layer;

E) mechanical coating;

F) electrodeposition coating.

These guidelines and recommendations do not address anti-corrosion maintenance of galvanized steel in use. Guidance on this topic can be found in ISO 12944-5 a ISO 12944-8.

Poznámka: There are a variety of product-related standards (např., hřebíky, fasteners, ductile iron pipes, atd.) that place specific requirements on the galvanizing system being applied that go beyond any general guidelines presented in this document. These specific product-related requirements will take precedence over these general recommendations.

Special cases, such as exposure, can significantly exacerbate corrosion exposure and/or place higher demands on corrosion protection systems

3.4 Life to the first maintenance

The amount of time that can pass after the initial coating before the coating deteriorates to the point where maintenance is required to restore protection to the base metal
