1.1 This specification covers reinforced non-vulcanized polymer sheets (voir la note 1) made from chlorosulfonated polyethylene (MSC), intended for use as a single layer roof film exposed to weather. The sheet shall be reinforced with fiber or fabric.

The term CSPE is commonly used in the roofing industry.

1.1.1 The polymers used in these sheets have thermoplastic properties when installed. The chlorosulfonated polyethylene will be vulcanized in situ under environmental conditions.

1.2 The test and performance limits used to characterize these sheets are minimum.

1.2.1 Design criteria for cast-in-place roof systems, such as fire resistance, field joint strength, impact/puncture resistance, material compatibility and pull resistance, are factors that need to be considered but are beyond the scope of this specification.
