Unlike ASTM G155 and ISO 4892-4 practices, whose lighting sources are xenon lamps and carbon arcs, respectivement, this test protocol relies on the use of fluorescent ultraviolet rays. The method is therefore based on the principles of the ASTM G154 standard.

Evaluate polishing behavior by accelerating weathering use and taking into account:

The goal of ASTM D6625 is to evaluate the ability of polishes to protect against degradation caused by heat, UV light exposure, and humidity through the use of accelerated aging tests. The latter involves exposing samples within the device to water condensation, ultraviolet radiation and temperature changes up to a predetermined amount of time as a means of simulating decay caused by water and sunlight. This property is determined by periodic gloss readings of the polished and unpolished areas of the sample. En outre, this periodic assessment allows the evolution of the property to be monitored. Unfortunately, the method does not provide a correlation that can be used to predict the outdoor performance of the sample. D'autre part,

The main factor to consider when running this test is: the amount of polish used on the sample.

Typical test parameters for ASTM D6625:

The number and size of samples need to be specified. The test specifications are listed in Table 1.
