Introduction
Each member group interested in a subject on which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on the committee. Organisations internationales, governments and non-governmental organizations that liaise with ISO are also involved in this work.

ISO/IEC Directive Part 1 describes the procedures used to develop this document as well as those used for further maintenance. En particulier, attention should be paid to the different approval criteria required for different types of ISO files.

This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 107, Metallic and other inorganic Coatings, Sous-comité SC 4, Hot Dip Coatings (galvanization, etc.) in cooperation with Technical Committee CEN/TC 262 of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) on metallic and other inorganic Coatings, According to the technical cooperation agreement between ISO and CEN (Accord de Vienne).

The fourth edition cancelates and replaces the third edition (OIN 1461:2009), qui a été techniquement révisé.

Added definitions ofgalvanizing”, “post-treatment”, “additional coating”, “wet storage stain” et “dual phase systemin Chapter 3;

-The difficulty of removing flux residues and zinc ash when restricted access is recognized in 6.1;

The reference area selection procedure has been clarified and additional requirements have been added in 6.2.3 to avoid the use of reference areas on certain small auxiliary components on larger items;

Modified refurbishment requirements for uncoated areas: removed the requirement for zinc-containing paint pigments to comply with ISO 3549; Annex C has been extended to include additional information on the applicability of the different refurbishment methods given in 6.3;

All requirements related to coating thickness, including Tables 3 et 4, have been placed in 6.5, including requirements related to the dimensions of items previously in the control sample in 6.2.3; The new requirements for these steels in 6.5 recognize the lower coating thickness that results in ultra-low reactivity steels;

Updated corrosion resistance information for galvanized coatings, including long-term corrosion resistance in reference to ISO 9224 in Appendix E.

1 Champ d'application
This document specifies the general properties of hot dip galvanized coatings and test methods for hot dip galvanized coatings applied by immersing steel products (including certain castings) in a zinc melt (containing no more than 2% of other metals). This document does not apply to:

un) continuous hot dip galvanized sheet, wire and braided or welded mesh products;

b) hot-dip galvanized pipes in automation equipment;

c) hot dip galvanized products (such as fasteners) for which specific standards exist and may include additional requirements or requirements different from those in this document.

Note: Individual product standards can be incorporated into this document by referring to the number of galvanized coatings, or they can be combined with product-specific modifications. Different requirements can also be made for galvanized coatings on products designed to meet specific regulatory requirements.

This document does not apply to post-treatment or additional coating of hot dip galvanized products.
