ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a global federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The development of international standards is usually carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member group interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on the Committee. In practice, surface reactive substances often contaminate the electrodeposited coating material in the tank. These contaminants can be materials used in downstream production processes, such as molding additives, anti-corrosion oils and chain lubricants.

These surface active substances can cause surface defects in electrophoretic coatings and/or subsequent coatings.

ISO 22553-4 describes test methods for determining the compatibility of electrodeposited coating materials with liquids, pastes and solid foreign bodies that affect the properties of electrodeposited coatings.

1 Scope of Application

The document specifies a method for determining the compatibility of electrodeposited coating materials with reference oils.
