Methods for testing performance of dry powder reinforcers and related standards

Dry powder reinforcer is an additive used in concrete, cement and other building materials, which can improve the strength, durability and stability of materials. Usually include silicate enhancers, calcium based enhancers and organic enhancers and other types. Silicate reinforcing agents can enhance the early and long term strength, durability and impermeability of concrete and cement. Calcium based reinforcer can promote cement reaction and increase its strength and durability. Organic reinforcing agents can improve the ductility and durability of concrete and cement and reduce problems such as cracking and cracking.

Test performance and standards
The following are the main properties of dry powder reinforcer to be tested and the corresponding detection methods:

PerformanceItem of inspectionMethod of detection
Increase in strengthCompressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strengthGB/T 17671、GB/T 50081、GB/T 50082
Durability of lifeImpermeability, wear resistance, weather resistanceGB/T 50082、GB/T 50083、GB/T 50208
StabilityExpansion rate, shrinkage rate, hardening timeGB/T 50119、GB/T 17671、GB/T 50081

In addition, depending on the type of dry powder reinforcer, other specific properties may need to be tested, such as calcium based reinforcer to test its promotion effect on cement reaction.

Method of detection
The following are the main properties of dry powder reinforcer to be tested and the corresponding detection methods:

Increased strength:

Compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength can be measured by conventional mechanical test methods. Among them, GB/T 17671 “Cement strength testing method” is a commonly used compressive strength testing method; GB/T 50081 “Standard test method for Mechanical Properties of reinforced concrete” and GB/T 50082 “Standard Test method for Mechanical properties of Concrete” are used to determine the tensile strength and flexural strength of the method.

Durability:

Impermeability, wear resistance and weather resistance are three important durability properties of dry powder enhancers. Impermeability can be evaluated by hydraulic test, such as the membrane penetration test method in GB/T 50082; Wear resistance can be tested by wear testing machine, such as GB/T 50083 specified in the concrete wear resistance test method; Weather resistance needs to be assessed by long-term exposure tests in natural or artificial climate environments.

Stability:

The stability of dry powder reinforcement includes expansion rate, shrinkage rate and hardening time. The expansion rate and shrinkage rate can be tested by the expansion and contraction test methods in GB/T 50119, and the hardening time can be measured by various methods, such as compaction test method, microscopic analysis method, etc.

In addition to the test methods listed above, specific test methods may be required for different types of dry powder reinforcers, such as calcium based reinforcers to test their promotion of cement reaction. Therefore, the detection method needs to be selected according to the specific type of dry powder enhancer.
