Betekenis en gebruik
4.1 Deze gids vertegenwoordigt een verzameling relevante ASTM-testmethoden die worden gebruikt in de coatingindustrie. In het verleden, Coilcoaters over de hele wereld vertrouwden op de industrienormen van de National Coil Coatings Association. De associatie, in samenwerking met ASTM, zal niet langer nieuwe normen uitvaardigen of oude bijwerken.

Stap 1: Domein

1.1 Deze gids behandelt de procedures voor het testen van spoelcoatings. Tafel 1 vermeldt de meegeleverde testmethoden. In gevallen waarin meer dan één testmethode voor hetzelfde kenmerk wordt vermeld, er wordt geen poging gedaan om de superioriteit van de ene methode boven de andere aan te tonen. De keuze van de te volgen testmethoden moet worden bepaald door de vereisten van elk geval en de overeenkomst tussen de producent en de gebruiker.

1.2 Waarden uitgedrukt in SI-eenheden worden als standaardwaarden beschouwd. De waarden tussen haakjes zijn alleen ter referentie.

1.3 Deze norm is niet bedoeld om alle veiligheidsproblemen in verband met het gebruik ervan weg te nemen. Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de gebruikers van deze norm om de juiste veiligheid te garanderen, gezondheids- en milieuspecificaties en om vóór gebruik de toepasbaarheid van wettelijke beperkingen vast te stellen.

1.4 Deze internationale norm is gebaseerd op internationaal erkende standaardisatieprincipes die zijn vastgelegd in het Besluit over de beginselen voor de ontwikkeling van internationale normen, Richtlijnen en aanbevelingen uitgegeven door de WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Commissie.
