ISO (Internationale Organisatie voor Standaardisatie) is een mondiale alliantie van nationale normalisatie-instellingen (ISO-lidorganisaties). De ontwikkeling van internationale normen wordt doorgaans uitgevoerd via technische ISO-commissies. Elke aangesloten instelling die geïnteresseerd is in een onderwerp waarover een technische commissie is opgericht, heeft het recht om in de commissie vertegenwoordigd te zijn. Gouvernementele en niet-gouvernementele internationale organisaties die contact onderhouden met standaardisatieorganisaties zijn ook bij dit werk betrokken.

Draft international standards adopted by technical committees are circulated to member bodies for approval before they are accepted as international standards by the ISO Council. They are approved according to ISO procedures that require at least 75% approval by voting member institutions.

The international standard ISO7252 was developed by Technical committee ISO/TC 35, Verven en vernissen.

Scope and field of application
This standard describes a flameless atomic absorption spectrometry method for the determination of total mercury in paints and related products.

The method is applicable to products with a total mercury content in the range of approximately 0.01% naar 0.5% (m/m).

Opmerking – This method is also applicable to products with a total mercury content of more than 0.5% (m/m), provided that the number of reagents and test parts is changed appropriately.
