Introdução
For methods that can be used for unplasticized polymer dispersions and rubber latex, the non-volatile residues (mainly composed of polymer materials and small amounts of additives, such as emulsifiers, protective colloids, stabilizers, solvents added as film forming agents and — especially for rubber latex concentrates — preservatives) need to be chemically stable under the test conditions. For plasticized samples, residues usually include plasticizers by definition.

ISO 3233 (todas as partes) specifies test methods for determining the content of non-volatile substances in paints, varnishments and related products.

This document specifies a determination of paint, verniz, paint and varnish binder, polymer dispersions and condensation resin (such as phenolic resin (JiaJie phenolic resin and novolac solution, etc.)) method of non-volatile matter content.

This method can also be applied to preparation containing fillers, pigments and other additives, such as thickening agent, film former dispersions.

Observação 3 Internal methods for determining nonvolatile substances usually include drying with infrared or microwave radiation. The standardization of this kind of method is impossible, because they are not universal. Several polymer compositions tend to break down during this treatment and therefore give incorrect results.
