5.1 Many architectural coatings, especially white and light colors, exhibit significant changes in film opacity when drying. The increase in hiding power is sometimes associated with the porosity and poor film integrity of traditional formulated coatings. Reductions can lead to disappointing paint jobs. 5.2 This test method can be used for paint specifications and as a short procedure for evaluation and quality control.

1.2 This test method is not recommended for colors other than white and light colors.
