The committee responsible for this document is ISO/TC 35, Боје и лакови, Subcommittee SC 9, Common Test Methods for Paints and varnishes.

The first edition of ISO 16474-2, together with ISO 16474-1, cancelled and replaced the technically revised ISO 11341:2004.

Coatings of paints, varnishes and similar materials (later simply referred to as coatings) are exposed to laboratory light sources in order to simulate in the laboratory the aging process that occurs during natural weathering or exposure tests under glass covers.

1 Range
Овај део ИСО-а 16474 specifies methods of exposing specimens to xenon arc light in the presence of moisture in order to reproduce the weathering effects that occur when the material is exposed to daylight or sunlight filtered through window glass in an actual end-use environment.

The sample is exposed to filtered xenon arc light under controlled conditions (температура, влажност, and/or wetting). Various types of xenon arc lamps and various filter combinations can be used to meet all requirements for testing different materials.

Sample preparation and result evaluation are covered in other international standards for specific materials.

General guidance is given in ISO 16474-1.

Note that xenon arc exposure of plastics is described in ISO 4892-2.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO 4618 and the following articles apply.

H is radiation exposure, measured in joules per square meter;

E is irradiance, in watts per square meter;

t is the exposure time, in seconds.
