ИСО (Међународна организација за стандардизацију) је глобални савез националних тела за стандардизацију (Тела чланица ИСО). Развој међународних стандарда се обично спроводи преко ИСО техничких комитета. The second edition cancelled and replaced the technically revised first edition (ИСО 2811-2:1997).

The main changes are as follows.

а) The unit of density has been changed from grams per milliliter to grams per cubic centimeter, as this is the more common SI unit.

б) The confirmation in duplicate has been changed to a single confirmation.

ц) Information about calibration procedures has been changed to sample only and the status of Annex B has been changed from normative to informative.

d) Precision data has been updated through inter-laboratory testing.

e) Normative references have been updated.
