Related to such tests, there are several methods for extracting and analyzing soluble contaminants on surfaces to be painted. Some of these methods are based on wipes of relatively large test surfaces. This technique provides an average of the pollutants present, but it may hide local concentrations of pollutants. Wipes may not ensure sufficient penetration to dissolve all deep contaminants, such as ferrite. นอกจากนี้, the solvent used will affect the dissolution rate and dissolved contaminants. This document covers sampling with weak acids as solvents.

This document is procedurally similar to but not equivalent to ISO 8502-6. The main difference lies in the solvent used and the subsequent analysis that can be performed on the extracted solution.
