ASTM B504-2017 Standard Test Method for Measuring the Thickness of Metal Coatings by the Coulometric Method

ASTM B504 Standard test method for Measuring the thickness of Metal coatings by the Coulometric method includes the determination of the thickness of metal coatings by the Coulometric method, also known as the anode solution or electrochemical stripping method.
Meaning and use

4.1 The importance of evaluating coating thickness for evaluating its utility and cost goes without saying.

4.2 The coulomb method destroys the coating in a very small (about 0.1 cm 2) test area. Therefore, its use is limited to applications where the bare point of the test area is acceptable or where the test piece may be damaged.
