ASTM D6083-2021 Standard Specification for Liquid Acrylic Coatings for Roofing

abstract
This specification covers the testing and material properties of water-dispersed protective roof coatings composed of water-based acrylic latex elastic emulsion polymers, where a variety of pigments and other additives are added to provide the desired physical properties. The manufactured product shall be in liquid form and may be applied to the roof surface by brushing, scraping, rolling or spraying. Its application guide is not discussed here. The coating must be tested and meet the liquid characteristics required for solid viscosity, volume and weight. Conversely, the film should also conform to the physical properties of drying as follows: initial elongation at break; Initial tensile strength under maximum stress; The final elongation at break after accelerated weathering; Through; Edema; Adhesion force; Fungal resistance; Tear resistance; And low temperature flexibility after accelerated weathering.

range
1.1 This specification covers liquid application of water-dispersed acrylic latex elastic protective roofing coatings.

1.2 This specification does not provide guidance for application.

1.3 Values expressed in SI units or inch-pound units shall be treated separately as standard values. The values specified in each system may not be completely equivalent; Therefore, each system should be used independently of each other. Combining values from two systems may result in nonconformity.

1.4 This standard is not intended to address all, if any, safety concerns associated with its use. It is the responsibility of users of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.

1.5 This international standard is based on the internationally recognized standardization principles established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guidelines and Recommendations issued by the WTO Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade.
