ASTM D 4217-2017 “Gelatinization Time of Thermoset Powder Coatings”

Scope of
1.1 This test method determines the length of time required for a thermoset paint powder to gel on a polished metal surface at a specified temperature (e.g., 204°C (400°F)). The determination of gel time is a very simple method for characterizing and quality controlling coating powders. However, the gel time determined by this method is not directly related to the time of curing of paint powder in practical applications.
