ISO 12625-9-2015 “Toilet paper and sanitary paper products – Part 9: Determination of the bursting strength of the ball”

introduction
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a global alliance of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The development of international standards is usually carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member institution interested in a subject on which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising with ISO are also involved in this work. ISO works closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrical standardization.

The procedures used to develop this document and those used for further maintenance are described in Part 1 of the ISO/IEC Directive. In particular, attention should be paid to the different approval criteria required for different types of ISO documents. This document has been drafted in accordance with the editing rules of ISO/IEC Directive Part 2 (see.iso.org/directives).

The committee responsible for this document is ISO/TC 6, Paper, Board and Pulp, Sub-Committee SC 2, Test Methods and Quality Specifications for Paper and Paperboard, in accordance with the Technical Cooperation Agreement between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement), by the Technical Committee of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) CEN/TC 172, Pulp, Paper and Paperboard.

The second edition cancels and replaces the first edition of ISO 12625-9:2005, which has been technically revised.

The following changes were made:

– Reformulation of article 4;

– The inner diameter of the two concentric rings is reduced to 50 mm;

– Simplified description of the procedure in Article 9;

– Added accurate data in Annex A;

– Edit updates.

introduce
This part of ISO 12625 applies to tissue and household paper products. In principle, it can be applied to other paper types, but this part of ISO 12625 is not included.

It is clearly stated that the testing of impurities and impurities in tissue and tissue products is carried out in accordance with ISO 15755.

To determine moisture content in tissue and tissue products, ISO 287 and ISO 638 are applied.

1 Range
This part of ISO 12625 specifies a test method for determining the mechanical permeability (ball burst strength procedure) of tissue and household paper products.

At present, there are two different diameter clamping devices on the market, one is 50 mm and the other is 89 mm (see Annex B). This part of ISO 12625 applies to 50 mm clamping devices and is capable of measuring all sample sizes of tissue paper and tissue paper products and is consistent with ISO 12625-11.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO 12625-1 and below apply.

3.1 grams weighs g

The quality of tissue paper or tissue products per unit area as determined by the procedure specified in ISO 12625-6

Note 1: Gram weight is expressed in grams per square meter (g/m 2).

3.2 Blasting force F

The maximum force that the tissue paper or tissue product under test can withstand under test conditions, applied at right angles to its surface

Note 1: The blasting force is expressed in Newtons (N).

3.3 Burst Index X

The bursting force of tissue paper or tissue paper divided by the gram weight

Note 1: The blasting index is expressed in Newtonian square meters per gram (N·m2/g).
