Ambito di applicazione
1.1 This test method consists of determining the comparative coalescence of a series of latex paints by measuring the porosity of films dried at standard and low temperatures. Porosity was assessed using a penetrating medium as shown in test method D 3258.

1.2 The texture of the film will affect the cleaning and the test results. A stain applied to a high shading paint does not reduce the reflectivity as much as the same stain applied to a low shading paint with equal porosity. These points need to be considered when comparing different paints.

1.3 This method should only be applied to comparative tests within one laboratory, as numerical results obtained in different laboratories are usually inconsistent.
