Significato e uso

4.1 Dilute solutions of peroxides in various organic solvents are often used as catalysts or reaction initiators. Peroxides can also be formed through autoxylation in certain classes of compounds, including ethers, acetals, dienes, and alkyl aromatics, and are a potential safety concern. This test method provides a procedure for determining peroxide or reactive oxygen species levels.

1.1 Questo metodo di prova 2,3 covers organic solvents containing reactive oxygen species in this range of 5 A 80 micrograms per gram (PPM) or higher. By using a special reaction absorption cell, the test method can be extended to a range of 0 to 5ppm. This test method can be used to determine a variety of peroxide classes with different reactivity, such as hydroperoxides, diacyl peroxides, diaryl peroxides, peresters, and ketone peroxides. Stable ditertiary alkyl peroxides do not react under analytical conditions.

1.2 Solvents that can be successfully analyzed include saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, ketones and esters. Inoltre, the test method is suitable for olefin solvents and certain compounds containing alpha, beta and conjugate unsaturation. Solid samples soluble in acetic acid-chloroform solvents can also be analyzed.

1.3 Review the current Safety Data Sheet (Scheda di sicurezza) for details on toxicity, first aid measures and safety precautions.

1.5 This standard is not intended to address safety concerns, se presente, legati al suo utilizzo.
