ISO (Internationale Organisatie voor Standaardisatie) is een mondiale alliantie van nationale normalisatie-instellingen (ISO-lidorganisaties). De ontwikkeling van internationale normen wordt doorgaans uitgevoerd via technische ISO-commissies. Elke aangesloten instelling die geïnteresseerd is in een onderwerp waarover een technische commissie is opgericht, heeft het recht om in de commissie vertegenwoordigd te zijn. Gouvernementele en niet-gouvernementele internationale organisaties die contact onderhouden met standaardisatieorganisaties zijn ook bij dit werk betrokken.

Draft international standards adopted by technical committees are circulated to member bodies for approval before they are accepted as international standards by the ISO Council. They are approved according to ISO procedures that require at least 75% approval by voting member institutions.

De internationale standaard ISO 3856/3 is ontwikkeld door de Technische Commissie ISO/TC 35, Verven en vernissen.

ISO 3856/3 was first published in 1980. De tweede editie annuleert en vervangt de eerste editie, which is a complete revision of the first edition.

This international standard is part of ISO 3856, Verven en vernissen – Bepaling van “oplosbaar” metalen inhoud.

Scope and field of application
Dit deel van ISO 3856 describes a flame atomic emission spectroscopy (AES) method for determining the barium content of test solutions prepared according to ISO 6713 or other appropriate international standards.

The method is suitable for coatings with a “oplosbaar” barium content in the range of approximately 0.05 naar 5% (m/m).

Other methods can be used by agreement between interested parties, but this method is the referee method in a dispute situation.
