ISO (Międzynarodowa Organizacja Normalizacyjna) jest globalnym sojuszem krajowych organów normalizacyjnych (Organy członkowskie ISO). Opracowywanie norm międzynarodowych odbywa się zwykle za pośrednictwem komitetów technicznych ISO. This standard provides

— A method for determining the weight and thickness of a plastic film or sheet sample (zobacz artykuł 3);

A method for determining the average weight thickness of a plastic film or sheet roll and, if required, the yield per unit mass area (zobacz artykuł 4).

These methods are applicable to all plastic films and sheets and are of particular value when mechanical scanning is not accurate enough, especially for measuring the thickness of embossed sheets.
