This document has been prepared in collaboration with the Technical Committee of ISO/TC 256 (Pigments, dyes and Fillers) and the Technical Committee CEN/TC 298 (Pigments and Fillers) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) in accordance with the Agreement on technical Cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).

The second edition cancelled and replaced the first edition (ИСО 18314-3:415), which had been technically revised.

The main changes are as follows:

— The original paragraph 5.4, relative black value, M years, and the original paragraph 6.4, relative gray value, G years are deleted;

— Original Article 2, symbols and abbreviations, updated and renumbered as Article 4;

— Adding a second article, normative reference;

— Adding a third article, terms and definitions;

– In article 5, the values of x and y are added;

— The text has been edited and revised, and the normative references have been updated.

This document specifies different methods for calculating special indices that are commonly used to describe the brightness and inking of a sample, including chroma or hue within a color coordinate.

This document applies to tri-stimulus values and chrominance coordinates calculated using the color matching function of the CIE 1931 (2°) or CIE 1964 (10°) standard colorimetric system. It is used to specify a color stimulus that is considered to belong to a reflection or transmission object that requires a one-dimensional value.
