ИСО (Међународна организација за стандардизацију) је глобални савез националних тела за стандардизацију (Тела чланица ИСО). Развој међународних стандарда се обично спроводи преко ИСО техничких комитета. This standard provides

— A method for determining the weight and thickness of a plastic film or sheet sample (see article 3);

A method for determining the average weight thickness of a plastic film or sheet roll and, if required, the yield per unit mass area (see article 4).

These methods are applicable to all plastic films and sheets and are of particular value when mechanical scanning is not accurate enough, especially for measuring the thickness of embossed sheets.
