Phosphate conversion coatings are applied to ferrous metals, 铝, zinc and their alloys (including galvanized and zinc-alloyed steel, cadmium and their alloys) as end faces or as interlayers for other coatings. They are designed to

Imparts corrosion resistance,

Improves adhesion to paints and other organic finishes,

promote cold forming operation, such as drawing, tubing, and extrusion, 还有

Modification of surface friction properties to facilitate sliding.

Phosphate conversion coating is produced by solution treatment, its main composition is proper orthophosphoric acid dihydrogen salt. These coatings are mainly applied to ferrous materials and zinc, and the coating quality and apparent density per unit area vary depending on

component of building materials and surface condition,

More or less all phosphate conversion coating is porous, but can be by subsequent sealant for which the material sealing process.
