ASTM F1349-2018 Standard Test Method for Absorption of Non-Volatile Ultraviolet (UV) Extracts from Microwave Receptors

summarize
This test method identifies the required instruments, standard procedures, and calculations related to determining the relative polarity of extractable ingredients that absorb non-volatile ultraviolet light (UV) that may migrate from microwave receptor packages into food simulators, such as corn oil and Miglyol 812. The test method has been jointly investigated by using a double platen base consisting of cardboard, adhesive and a layer of polyethylene terephthalate polymer (PETE) base.

ASTM F1349-2018 Standard Test Method for Absorption of Non-Volatile Ultraviolet (UV) Extracts from Microwave Receptors

Step 1: Scope
1.1 This test method covers the determination of non-polar and relatively polar ultraviolet (UV) absorbing components that may migrate from microwave receptor packages into food simulators, such as corn oil and Miglyol 812.

1.2 The test method was jointly investigated using a double-laminated base consisting of a cardboard, adhesive, and a polyethylene terephthalate polymer (PETE) base. This test method is used to quantify adhesives and PETE related compounds.

1.3 Values expressed in SI units shall be regarded as standard values. This standard does not include other units of measurement.

1.4 This standard is not intended to address all safety concerns associated with its use. It is the responsibility of users of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental specifications and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use. The specific warning is given in 4.3.2.3.

1.5 This international standard is based on internationally recognized standardization principles established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guidelines and Recommendations issued by the WTO Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
