The second edition includes two methods instead of three, which use the same general principles but are slightly different on the devices used. Method B is more convenient for lower density pigments. Method C was given in the first edition and has been omitted in the second edition.

Ang bahaging ito ng ISO 787 specifies a general test method for determining the density of a pigment or filler sample using a specific gravity bottle.

ISO 787-23:1979, Pangkalahatang pamamaraan ng pagsubok para sa mga pigments at fillers – Bahagi 23: Pagpapasiya ng densidad (removal of entrapped air by centrifuge) specifies a general method for the removal of trapped air by centrifuge.

Tala 1 The general methods given in the various parts of ISO 787 are generally applicable to any pigment or filler. Kaya nga, it is only necessary to include a cross-reference to the appropriate part of ISO 787 in the international standard, giving the specification for that pigment or filler and indicating any detailed modifications that may be required in view of the particular properties of the material in question. A different density determination method is specified only if the general method is not applicable to a particular material.
