ISO (הארגון הבינלאומי לתקינה) היא ברית גלובלית של גופי תקינה לאומיים (גופים חברי ISO). פיתוח תקנים בינלאומיים מתבצע בדרך כלל באמצעות ועדות טכניות של ISO. כל מוסד חבר המעוניין בנושא שעליו הוקמה ועדה טכנית זכאי להיות מיוצג באותה ועדה. ארגונים ממשלתיים ולא-ממשלתיים בינלאומיים המקיימים קשר עם ISO מעורבים גם הם בעבודה זו. This document has been prepared by the Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 (צבעים ולכות), ועדת המשנה SC 9, General Test methods for paints and discoloring, in cooperation with the Technical Committee CEN/TC 139, Paints and Varnishes of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), in accordance with the Technical Cooperation Agreement between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).

המהדורה השנייה ביטלה והחליפה את המהדורה הראשונה (ISO 8130-2:1992), אשר עבר תיקון טכני. The main changes from the previous edition are as follows:

— The scope has been edited and revised;

— Terms and definitions are added (Art. 3);

– The gas has changed from air or helium to helium or nitrogen;

— the procedure is consistent with the actual operation;

– The acceptable difference between the two results (art. 9) is given as a percentage;

— The text has been edited and revised and the normative references have been updated.
