4.1 Paint is often stained, vooral in de buurt van deuropeningen, ramen, and work and play areas. These test methods cover the determination of the relative resistance of different paints to erosion upon repeated scrubbing during the life of the paint.

4.2 Test Method D4213 is a similar scrubbing resistance test that uses weight-loss techniques and reports volumetric film erosion rates.

4.3 Test Method A measures scrubbing resistance through the traditional cyclic failure concept. Poor correlation in the scrubbing test can be attributed to variations in bristle stiffness, washability tester condition, application, and drying conditions. Test method B has been developed to improve reproducibility.

1.1 These test methods cover procedures for determining the resistance of wall coatings to scrubbing induced erosion, herein referred to as “scrubbing resistance”.

1.2 Covers the following two test methods:

1.2.1 Testmethode A — Failure periods obtained on test coatings.

1.2.2 Testmethode B — The ratio expressed as a percentage of the cycles obtained with the test coating and the cycles obtained with the known reference coating in simultaneous operation to the failure period.

1.3 Waarden uitgedrukt in SI-eenheden worden als normen beschouwd. De waarden tussen haakjes zijn alleen ter referentie.

1.4 Deze norm is niet bedoeld om alle veiligheidsproblemen aan te pakken, indien aanwezig, die verband houden met het gebruik ervan.
