Meaning and use

2.1 The compressed air needs to be cleaned to prevent contamination of the coating material and the surface on which the coating is prepared. This test method is a visual inspection technique used to determine oil or water in compressed air. Other types of contamination may require additional analytical techniques to detect.

Step 1: Scope

1.1 This test method is used to determine the presence of oil or water in compressed air used for sandblasting, blast cleaning and coating construction operations.

1.2 Values in inches to pounds shall be considered as standard values. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.3 This standard is not intended to address all safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of users of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
